JASON Garrity and Will Boraston took the victory in the Buxton Pairs at a sunny and warm Hi-Edge Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

The Cradley duo took the title in the final heat of the meeting as they needed a 5-1 over the Stoke pairing. Garrity took the chequered flag ahead of his partner Boraston, who managed to keep Jack Crewe at bay to take the title by a point after home pairing Alfie Bowtell and Joe Crewe had finished on 19 points, along with Wolves pairing of Jack Roberts and Ryan Ashcroft.

In his opening ride, Garrity took the track record, recording a time of 54.61, taking it off Edinburgh Academy rider Jordy Loftus, who recorded 55.47 just the week before, as he took a comfortable victory.

Wolves showed the way early on with Roberts and Ashcroft recording 5-1 heat advantages in their opening two rides to lead the way after six heats.

Bowtell and Garrity clashed in the following race, with the Bull’s number one edging it into turn one. Garrity did his best to pass the home rider but couldn’t find a way through, resulting in a drawn heat and putting the Bulls and Heathens level on 11 points each and leading the way.

A 4-2 advantage for the black country duo over Wolves put the Heathens just a point behind Wolves, and it was then that Bowtell and Joe Crewe combined for a 5-1 over Bailey Fellows over the Crewe Kings pairing to put the home duo level with Wolves.

The two leaders raced each other in heat thirteen, which resulted in a drawn race as Bowtell completed his maximum with victory over Roberts and Ashcroft, leaving Buxton and Wolves tied on 19-points, leaving the Heathens requiring a 5-1 in the final race of the meeting and the duo duly delivered.

After the meeting, Garrity said, “It was good to be back on a bike, and I enjoyed riding, and it’s good to win the meeting. I’m just going to get my head down and enjoy riding my bike.”

Boraston commented, “It is really good to win, it was a tight meeting with Buxton and Wolves both tied on 19 points, and we knew we needed a 5-1 to win the meeting and thankfully we did that with Jason (Garrity) winning the heat and me managing to hold Jack Crewe off for the second place.”
