BUXTON Ductair Bulls are back in action at Hi-Edge Raceway on Sunday afternoon (3 pm) when they entertain their former league rivals, a Stoke Potters select team, in a challenge fixture.

The Potters closed their doors at Loomer Road back in 2019, and a team has been assembled to bring them back onto the track.

The Potters Select team will be managed by former team manager, rider and captain Nigel Crabtree for the afternoon.

His team will be spearheaded by former Potters skipper and captain for the day, Simon Lambert, while Mickie Simpson, who was an NDL League and KO Cup winner with the Leicester Lion Cubs back in 2022. Ben Whalley, who races for the Edinburgh Academy, will provide good support for the top two, with Sam Woods and Eli Meadows of the Leicester Lion Cubs completing the top five. At reserve, there is a familiar surname that Potter’s supporters will remember with Max Broadhurst, son of former Potter Wayne Broadhurst. Max has linked up with Oxford in the NDL for a second season and won the league title last season, and completing the Stoke septet is Will Boraston.

Stoke team manager Nigel Crabtree commented, “It’s great to see a Stoke team on track, and as everyone who knows me will know, we will be looking to win the meeting and give the supporters something to cheer and see some good racing on the day.”

The Bulls will be spearheaded by Alfie Bowtell and skipper Jack Smith, with Luke Harris and Alex Spooner providing support to the top two, with rider replacement being used to cover the absence of Jamie Etherington. Jack Shimelt and Bailey Fellows will be on reserve for the home side, who will be looking to gain their first victory of the season.

Bulls team boss Laurence Rogers said, “It will be another chance to get more track time before we embark on our league season, and we will, of course, do our best to get our first win of the season against a Potters Select team that will be looking to take the honours on the day.”
