SIMON Lambert took victory in the Steve Casey Memorial at Buxton’s Hi-Edge Raceway on Sunday afternoon.
Lambert won all his qualifying races in impressive style, and Dayle Wood and Ben Whalley pushed him all the way in those heats, finishing a point and two points behind Lambert, respectively.
Mickie Simpson, Harry Sadler, along with home riders Luke Harris and Jack Roberts, all tied on 8 points, which saw them also qualify for the semi-finals, with Ollie Binns, Jamie Halder and Arran Butcher all finishing on 7 points, which meant that Binns went through to the semi-finals courtesy of having a race win.
Bulls rider Jack Roberts took victory in semi-final 1 as he managed to overhaul Simon Lambert, who suffered a puncture off the final turn, allowing Roberts through with Lambert just holding off Ben Whalley on the line.
The second semi-final saw Dayle Wood take victory from Bulls rider Luke Harris, who kept Ollie Binns at bay after Harry Sadler had been disqualified for falling.
In the final, Lambert made no mistake as he got the better of Wood, with Roberts taking third place.
Lambert said, “It was a tough meeting out there, and I was pushed all the way. The track is the best I’ve seen it since Buxton returned this year, and it’s good to see the track open. I’m really pleased to get the victory this afternoon.
