The work at Buxton continues, and with new volunteers appearing on a Sunday, we are making more progress.

Former Stoke rider Shaun Tedham brought his groundwork machinery along last week and spent a whole day working on various jobs. Drains were dug out and washaways added, levelling of ground where the new MDL pits will be started, then the old changing rooms were demolished and cleared away. He had help from Nigel Crabtree’s grandsons Sam and Ben, who had started riding in FGA events, along with their mother Gemma, and they were hard at it until the light faded.

A start was made on erecting the stands by grass trackers John and Liam Cox, along with Dave Roscoe, and this is well ahead of schedule.

The volunteer group continued replacing the safety fence posts in readiness to get the air fence up soon, whilst work on the generator continued.

Buxton promoter Laurence Rogers was amazed, “It was non-stop all day with different groups undertaking jobs on the list. Having Shaun and his machinery was superb, as so much got done. The volunteers, as usual, just got stuck in, and it was a bonus to make a start on the stands. There are still loads to do, but the more help we get, the sooner we can look at starting practices.

We are attending the Speedway Show at Gaydon on Saturday, with a team of people on our stall making sure speedway fans know Buxton is back in 2026. Our clothing sponsor OK T-shirt, has produced some superb tops for us to wear, so fans won’t miss us. Criss at OK also has agreed to increase his backing of the club on top of what he has already agreed, and that is a major boost for us.”
